Now, the standard way of converting land in Kenya (when surveying) is that one 50 by 100 size plot is equal to an 1/8th of an acre.
This means that you will have about eight 50 x 100 plots theoretically fitting within one full acre.
And that applies for many plots in both urban and rural settings..
But the truth is that you will always get 8 point something plots from one acre (I’m assuming you bought your acre for sub division purposes-or you’re intending to)

So let us now proceed to calculate the actual area of a typical 50×100 Plot:
- Area = Length X Width
- Area = 49.21 ft x 98.42 ft

In real-world situations (kwa ground, as they say), factors like:
- Roadways: Space for in plots roads and other access paths must be allocated, during subdivision, leading to a reduction in the total area that is available for ‘sellable’ plots (50 by 100).
- Infrastructure: In addition, other infrastructure, like drainage systems could also take up significant space.
