I’m leading a program that is geared towards Transforming the Future of Kenyan Youth Through AI
I recently started a foundation with a bold vision: to train 10,000 young people across Kenya in the next five years, helping them use AI to create income-generating opportunities.
Now, my partner, who shares my passion for empowering youth, and I are dedicated to equipping these youths with AI skills they need to make money in the fast-changing digital space.
As AI technologies advance, new career opportunities are being created in fields like AI programming, data science, and machine learning. People who learn and adapt to these technologies will be positioned to take advantage of new job markets. Moreover, AI will not just create tech-related jobs, but will also help existing industries grow in innovative ways, such as AI-enhanced healthcare, education, marketing, and agriculture.
By the way this has long been in the pipeline because nothing excites me as working with young people- and that has been the case since my days as the founder of Karatina Institute of Technology (Or Palmax Business & ICT College-I actually trained over 5000 young men and women, most of who are today successful in life)
Okay, back to our Foundation…
In our AI Training in Kenya, we will begin by teaching them how to perform digital marketing tasks using revolutionary AI tools.
So we are not just creating digital marketers- we are training digital marketers who are able to leverage AI in their work.
In summary, our mentees will be able to offer more personalized, data-driven, and cost-effective online marketing campaigns, making them highly sought after in the industry.
The aim?
We hope that they will eventually secure well-paying jobs locally or internationally as digital marketers or even start their own Digital Marketing Consultancy businesses (or e-commerce ventures).
Reminder: With AI tools, our trainees will be able to sell brands and businesses online, manage social media accounts, create compelling content, and much more.
But this is just the beginning.
In addition to digital marketing, we plan to introduce a variety of AI-powered programs that will enable these youths to generate income directly.
Here are some of the key programs:
1. AI-Powered Local Problem-Solving Innovations
We will train youth to identify real-world problems in their communities and use AI to develop solutions.
For example, youths might create AI-powered tools that help small businesses optimize their operations, such as AI systems for predicting customer demand or streamlining supply chains.
By offering these solutions to local businesses, they can earn money by providing consulting services, developing custom software, or setting up AI tools for a fee.
2. AI-Powered Artisans & Craftsmanship Tools
For youths with a background in artisanal trades like tailoring, carpentry, or metalworking, we’ll introduce AI tools to make their craft stand out from the crowd (and become more profitable).
You see, they can use AI for product design, creating prototypes, or even improving marketing strategies.
For example, a tailor could use AI design tools to create unique clothing patterns, while a carpenter could use AI to design custom furniture.
Ultimately, these youths will be able to grow their own small businesses – for instance, if they market their products online through AI-driven e-commerce platforms, they will earn more income because of the broader reach.
3. AI-Driven Health and Wellness Services
We’ll teach youth how to use AI-powered tools for health education and wellness services.
For instance, they can use AI to create personalized fitness and diet plans, and market these services through mobile apps or social media.
The thing is: By offering AI-enhanced health consultations or wellness programs, they can earn money through subscriptions, one-on-one consultations, or even creating branded fitness products that promote a healthy lifestyle.
4. AI Tutors and Education Entrepreneurs
Bright youths will have the opportunity to build AI-powered tutors, that will help primary and secondary school students.
They will not only learn to use AI tools like ChatGPT to teach various subjects, from math to English but they will also be taught how to build complete AI driven online tutors.
You can clearly see that by offering online tutoring services, creating educational content, or running AI-powered study groups, our trainees will most certainly start making some income.
The secret is they set up AI powered learning platforms while advertising their services aggressively through social media!
5. AI for Community Journalism and Content Creation
We’ll empower youth to become local AI-powered journalists and content creators too.
Yeeeees, by using AI to write articles, create videos, and manage blogs or social media accounts, they can at some point establish themselves as digital media entrepreneurs.
In addition, these youths can create thriving blogs, YouTube channels, or community newsletters that generate revenue through advertising, sponsorships, and affiliate marketing…
How amazing will that be?
6. AI for Small Business Growth and Management
In this program, we’ll teach youths how to apply AI to help small businesses grow.
Whether it’s helping a local restaurant optimize its menu and pricing using AI, creating digital marketing strategies for local brands, or offering e-commerce solutions, the youth will learn how to turn these skills into money-making opportunities.
In a nutshell, here they will offer AI consulting services to small businesses, either as freelancers or by launching their own digital marketing agencies.

7. AI-Driven Agricultural Solutions
For youth passionate about agribusiness, we’ll offer training on how to apply AI to agriculture.
Did you know that AI tools can be used to monitor crop health, predict the best harvest times, or optimize farming techniques?
Now, these youths can start AI-driven agricultural startups, offer crop consulting services, or create AI-powered farming solutions that they sell to farmers.
Besides, they can create online courses teaching other farmers how to use AI for better farming practices, where they could earn through selling subscriptions or charging one-time fees.
8. AI-Based Online Marketplaces and E-commerce
We will teach youths how to build their own AI-powered e-commerce businesses as well.
The idea is simple: Using platforms like Shopify and myriad AI tools, our trainees can start online stores, source products, and market them effectively.
All the have to do is mainly optimize product listings and understand customer behavior using AI- it is the passport to earning serious passive income (thanks to their online businesses).
Our Approach
The target is to train 2000 youths every year, with each one going on to find meaningful work or start their own business.
We aim to create long-term sustainability by having our initial target of of 10,000 trainees teach and mentor another 90,000 youth over the next few years (10 mentees per successful trainee).
And as they teach and mentor, they will create a ripple effect — potentially empowering a further 1 million youths across Kenya (again 10 trainees per the 100000).
Friend, we believe that by working with AI and digital tools, we’re not just changing lives; we’re creating a nation of innovators ready to lead the future.
Jobs and Opportunities in the Digital Space
We’re not worried about job shortages…not at all.
Why?
The digital space is only growing, and Kenya is already known as a global hub for a skilled, competent digital workforce.
So we are sure our youths will step into this expanding ecosystem – and since they will have AI skills that few have, they will probably be absorbed by Kenyan companies as well as International Organizations (remotely).
Our foundation isn’t just about training for today; it’s about building for the future.
